Lopez is the most rural of the three major islands,
covering 29.5 square miles. The island is a bicyclists paradise and a beach combers dream. There’s a genuine spirit of community here and a special feeling for life that pervades. Lopez is home to many artists, craftspeople, musicians, farmers, fisherman, nature lovers, and eccentrics. It boasts a variety of shops, galleries, coffee shops and restaurants, as well as a bakery, fully-stocked grocery store, pharmacy, organic grocery and other services. You will also find the post office, medical clinic, bank, historical museum, community center and Chamber of Commerce office all within walking distance. While you are there, keep your eyes peeled for bald eagles, seals, otters and the occasional orca whale.
